Yes. Public education in Anambra State is free from nursery through to secondary school. No school may charge a student or parent for admission, tuition, extra lessons, examinations or registration, and no PTA contribution may be made compulsory or a condition of attending.

If you have been charged, report it. You may do so anonymously and you will be given a reference to follow it up.

Withholding a result over money is not permitted. Report it to the Commission with the name of the school and what you were told.

If your child is sitting an examination imminently, telephone your zonal office directly as well as filing the report, so the matter can be dealt with before the paper.

No. A receipt, a message or a note from the school helps, but the Commission investigates on the report alone. Do not delay a report because you cannot prove the payment.

If you file anonymously, your name, telephone number and email are not recorded at all. Nothing in the report identifies you.

If you give your details, they are held by the Commission and used only to contact you about the report. They are not passed to the school. Retaliation against a student whose parent has reported a levy is itself a disciplinary matter and should be reported immediately.

The monitoring team carries out continuous visits throughout each term, assessed against published quality indices covering teaching, attendance and school administration. Visits are unannounced by design.

Recruitment is by public advertisement. When a cycle opens, the notice appears on this site, in the news list, and through the usual state channels. There is no standing application list.

No. The Commission never charges a fee to apply and has no agents acting on its behalf. Any person or website asking you to pay to apply, or offering to secure a post, is not acting for the Commission. Report it.

Requirements vary by cycle and are set out in each advertisement. A degree in Science, Education, Technology or Engineering, or an HND, together with an NYSC discharge or exemption certificate, is typical. A Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria certificate is an added advantage.

Always read the advertisement for the cycle you are applying to rather than relying on a previous one.

Results for public secondary schools are published through the Commission's result checker. You will need the student's details and the school, class and stream.

If a result is missing, the school should raise it with its zonal office first, as most gaps are a matter of scores not yet uploaded.

Use the school directory to find the school. Its record shows the education zone it belongs to and the address and telephone number of that zonal office. All six offices are also listed on the education zones page.

The Commission maintains the register. The school or its zonal office should write in with the correction and it will be updated. Members of the public cannot edit a school record directly.

Inter-zone transfer requests must go through the zonal office of origin before they reach headquarters. A request presented directly at headquarters will be returned. Your zonal office will tell you what to submit.
