The Anambra State Post Primary Schools Services Commission was established as the Anambra State Education Commission by the Revised Education Edict. The Edict, among other changes to the education sector, changed the name of the Commission to its present form and made it a body corporate with perpetual succession, a common seal, and power to sue and be sued in its corporate name.
Structure
The Commission is headed by a Chairman and has a Deputy Chairman and four board members. The board members are members in charge of the zones. All are appointed by the Governor of the state according to the law. The Commission also has a Secretary, appointed by the Governor, who is responsible for the day-to-day administration of its affairs.
The Commission has six departments and four autonomous units at its headquarters and in the zonal offices. Its headquarters is in Awka, with six zonal offices at Aguata, Awka, Nnewi, Ogidi, Onitsha and Otuocha.
